Delivering an unforgetting experience starts with the right audiovisual foundation. Modern arenas and live sports venues rely on fully integrated AV and broadcast systems to bring every moment to life, from centre ice to the concourse and beyond.

High-impact displays and LED video walls do more than show the game. They create immersive environments, drive sponsorship revenue, and keep fans informed with real-time content like scores, stats, and concession pricing.

Behind the scenes, robust video production systems and professionally designed control rooms ensure seamless content delivery throughout the facility and far beyond it. From in-house screens to global broadcasts, every play, highlight, and announcement is captured and shared with precision.

The result? A connected, high-performance venue that elevates the live experience for every fan, every time.

Below are just some examples of our work with world class arena environments:
Arenas
Scotiabank Arena - Toronto, Ontario

Matrix delivered a comprehensive control room upgrade for Scotiabank Arena, partnering closely with Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment (MLSE) to design and implement a high performance broadcast environment tailored to the venue's various needs.
While core audio and video requirements were established, our team developed a fully customized system architecture, presenting multiple design approaches that demonstrated flexibility, scalability, and deep technical expertise. The final solution incorporated a wide range of advanced technologies, including a new video switcher, camera tally system, intercom and wireless communications, multiviewers, routing infrastructure, patch panels, and up/down/cross conversion.

A key priority of the project was seamlessly integrating new technologies with existing infrastructure. The resulting system combined proven equipment with state-of-the-art solutions such as Ross Video's Acuity Switcher platform, the robust Riedel Bolero and Artist solutions for the Intercom systems, and the MicroUHD platform for routing and multiview.
Throughout installation, our team worked on-site in close collaboration with arena staff to ensure continuity of operations, maintaining functionality for ongoing live events while the upgrade was underway. From initial design through to final implementation, Matrix partnered closely with the MLSE to deliver a solution that enhances the fan experience and meets the highest standards of live broadcast production.

BC Place -
Vancouver, British Columbia

Matrix was selected to deliver a complete Video Router, Replay, and Clip Server upgrade at BC Place, supporting broadcast readiness for 2026.

In partnership with Evertz Microsystems, our team developed a fully integrated solution designed to meet the high-performance demands of a world-class live sports environment. As part of the evaluation process, Matrix and Evertz successfully executed a live system demonstration, connecting stakeholders across multiple locations to showcase real-time capabilities and system reliability.
Following a rigorous, multi-stage review process, the project was awarded with a significantly compressed delivery timeline. Despite these challenges, our team executed with precision, leveraging strong coordination, technical expertise, and proven workflows to deliver on schedule.

The result is a robust, future-ready broadcast infrastructure that meets the operational demands of a premier venue, delivered to a highly satisfied client.

Prospera Place -
Kelowna, British Columbia

Matrix delivered a complete audio and AV system upgrade at Prospera Place, Kelowna’s premier arena, in preparation for hosting the 2026 Memorial Cup. Following the City’s acquisition of the facility in 2025, the goal was to modernize the venue’s infrastructure to meet evolving WHL standards and elevate the experience for over 6,500 attendees. The legacy system was replaced with a high-performance solution featuring EAW loudspeakers, LEA amplifiers, and Q-SYS control. The new deployment includes 35 arena bowl speakers, 12 subwoofers, and 30 additional Electro-Voice speakers throughout the concourse, delivering over 85,000 watts of digitally controlled power. This results in significantly improved clarity, coverage, and immersive sound across all event types.
To ensure intuitive operation and system flexibility, Matrix integrated Q-SYS touchscreens into mobile control stations, providing instant access to microphones, speaker zones, presets, and Bluetooth connectivity from anywhere in the arena. Redundancy was a key priority, with dual Q-SYS cores, network switches, and backup systems enabling seamless failover and real-time monitoring. Beyond audio, the project also included the installation of 98” concourse displays powered by Navori digital signage, along with upgraded emergency evacuation systems capable of overriding audio feeds when required.

Despite structural challenges associated with the arena’s original construction, including complex rigging requirements and engineering constraints, the project was successfully completed in just over three weeks. Leveraging specialized equipment and the expertise of Matrix’s installation team, the result is a future-ready AV environment that delivers powerful performance, operational reliability, and an enhanced fan experience.
Rogers Place -
Edmonton, Alberta

As part of an overall upgrade to the display systems at Rogers Place Matrix replaced multiple legacy LCD video walls with state-of-the-art Absen LED display solutions across key public areas.
Within the Molson Hockey House, a large open-concept bar, the project leveraged the existing truss infrastructure that previously supported an LCD video wall. Matrix deployed an Absen KL1.8mm LED display, selected for its versatility in both wall-mounted and truss-suspended configurations. The result is a high-impact, ultra-bright display that significantly enhances the viewing experience for patrons during live events.

3,840mm x 2,160mm / 2064px x 1164px

At the Play Alberta bar on the North Mezzanine, Matrix installed a new Absen KL1.2mm LED wall featuring an ultra-wide format. This configuration enables dynamic multi-source content presentation, including simultaneous display of multiple live games. The system is powered by a Novastar H2 processor, providing flexible input options and seamless content management.
Play Alberta Bar Display:

Additionally, within the Play Alberta lounge, Matrix delivered a striking 27-metre curved “ticker” display utilizing Absen NX Series LED technology. Engineered to accommodate unique architectural constraints, the installation features a custom curved section formed with quarter-width panels, creating a smooth, continuous visual surface optimized for dynamic sports betting content. To achieve precise alignment with the wall geometry, Matrix designed and fabricated a custom support frame matched to the exact radius of the structure.
