State-of-the-Art Theatre Room
The Calgary Tower is a 626-ft observation located in Calgary, Alberta. Its construction was completed in 1968, a year after it began. At this time, it was the tallest building in Calgary as well as the tallest in Canada, except for Toronto. This tower offers a 360-degree view of the city and includes a rotating restaurant called Sky 360. Elevators carry guests up to the observation deck; however, the tower also has 802 stairs, which are open only to staff except during their annual charity stair-climbing race. The observation deck itself features a glass floor so guests can look straight down as well as an immersive theatre room that showcases videos of Alberta’s scenery.
THE CHALLENGE
The Calgary Tower wished to incorporate a state-of-the-art theatre room to impress their guests. Due to limited space, projection was not an option for this particular installation. Therefore, our solution was to provide the Calgary Tower with a video wall that offers incredible video quality across the entire screen. Once the wall was installed, the Calgary Tower’s staff needed an easy method of directing content to the wall in a way that blends seamlessly across screens.
THE SOLUTION
Matrix designed and installed a captivating video wall that provides an immersive experience for all guests. We also supplied a digital content software that allows them to send directed video content to the video wall.
The components involved in this project include the following: Christie screens as well as Userful players and software.
This custom video wall installation features twenty-one 55” ultra-thin bezel screens over a curved wall, guaranteeing a one-of-a-kind experience to all visitors! We curved the video wall to fit perfectly to the bend of the wall behind it. The Userful software allows the Calgary Tower team to manage and send seamless content across all screens by themselves. We also provided their team with user training to ensure they were fully informed on how to use their new system. For more information on this software, please see the video below.
