CORPORATE CUSTOMER SUCCESS STORY

A Collaboration Solution

Methanex is a Canadian methanol company that was first founded in 1968 under the name of Ocelot Industries. Their headquarters is in Vancouver, British Columbia, and they have offices worldwide in countries such as China, New Zealand, the US, Chile, Egypt, and more.

THE CHALLENGE

As part of an office renovation for their head office, Methanex wanted to update all their technology, including their audiovisual systems. Being a long-time Matrix client, they contacted us to renew these systems. Specifically, they needed to upgrade their videoconferencing and presentation systems. All new systems were required to work with Microsoft Teams, Methanex’s united communications platform.

THE SOLUTION

This was a design-build project, meaning Matrix designed the entire system and then supplied and installed the audiovisual equipment. As part of the project, we consulted with Methanex on the design to ensure we understood and fulfilled their needs. We also offered training on all the new audiovisual technology. After the installation was complete, we provided an 18-month service contract.

The components involved in this project includes the following: Crestron room scheduling panels, Crestron UC160 Flex Teams Room systems, Crestron B160 Flex Teams Room systems, Crestron DMPS350C switcher processors, Crestron power amplifiers, Crestron ceiling speakers, Shure MXA910 ceiling microphones, Sony PTZ cameras, Sony Bravia Pro display monitors, and Barco Clickshare.

For maximum workplace efficiency, we installed Crestron room scheduling panels throughout Methanex’s office. These secure panels locate available rooms, reserve rooms, and keep everything organized, so Methanex staff can devote their full attention to their work. The panels even gather room data to increase productivity. We also installed Flex Teams Room systems in every meeting room to allow for control over all audiovisual equipment.

Sony displays are placed in every meeting room to enable presentations and videoconferencing. These displays were chosen for their ability to be configured for specific tasks as well as their impeccable image quality. To elevate Methanex’s presentations, Matrix provided switcher processors, which allow for presentation controls, signal switching, and signal processing. For any presentation or videoconferencing audio, each room is equipped with Crestron speakers and amplifiers. Meanwhile, audio capture for videoconferencing is enabled through Shure ceiling microphones. These microphones produce consistent sound even when participants move around the room, ensuring meetings can run as smoothly as possible. The video aspect of videoconferencing is taken care of through Sony cameras, which pan, tilt, and zoom around each room to encourage even participation from people in the meeting. And to provide a wireless option for presentations and videoconferencing, we installed Barco Clickshare!

CUSTOMER SATISFACTION

As previously mentioned, Methanex has been a long-time client of Matrix. Their satisfaction with our projects keeps them returning to us whenever they require audiovisual equipment.
